We Geek the Delaware Dream
We all have dreams about the future — for ourselves, our families, and our communities. The dream of Delaware Libraries is to help our state become an even more vibrant and prosperous place where all dreams are realized.
In this interactive forum, we want to hear about your dreams – the individual hopes as well as collective vision that we’re calling the Delaware Dream. Looking ahead, what is important to you? What are your hopes for the next decade? A safe community? A new home? Medical advances? The possibilities are limitless!
Your submissions will help Delaware Libraries and their partners facilitate conversations, learning opportunities, and community collaborations meant to enable you and others to maximize your unique talents (whatever you geek!) and achieve your Delaware Dream.

The completion of Delaware's own interactive science museum.
Since 1993 (80% of my life) I have been involved with the Delaware Aerospace Education Foundation either as a summer camper, volunteer, or part-time staff. I have watched this organization grow from a humble summer camp to an organization that has be a forerunner in Delaware's effort to help communities and the environment as well as a national effort in science education. They have worked with both NASA astronauts and budding space explorers of the newest generation.
For 10 years DASEF has been moving slowly towards the completion of a science museum that, when completed, could be Delaware's own Franklin…

Job and career opportunities for everyone
Having "just a job" is not enough - Delaware can be exemplary by providing excellent employment opportunities that help a motivated worker become more proficient and a better individual through career workshops, professional development, and volunteering through the support of their employers.

Sustainable, walkable, bikeable communities
My Delaware Dream is to live in a place where people are engaged in their communities. Where residents can walk or bike to work, leisure or educational activities. Where programming in libraries is vibrant and reflects the interests and needs of the community.

For Delaware to become a place where everyone has enough.
I would love to see Delaware become a place where everyone has enough. Enough healthy food, health care, quality education, and opportunity. We need to encourage children to eat healthy, live healthy, have respect for themselves and each other, and push to succeed in education.

That our small wonder is able to develop a sustainable local economy where goods are produced locally
I envision urban and rural communities where small manufacturing companies produce and sell goods to Delawareans and surrounding states. For cities, the focus would shift from fighting crime to being able to offer real jobs to residents in or near their own neighborhoods. Furthermore, a trend will occur moving more and more local companies toward employee-ownership.

The protection of all animals.
A world where all species of animals are protected from the torture and abuse of governments, the medical/pharmaceutical industry, commerical companies and humankind. A world where there are laws that impose harsh sentences to people who abuse all living creatures and - someday a world when abusing a person or animal is a rarity or unheard of.

That homeschoolers can play on public school sport teams
That any homeschooler, provided they have the ability and can make a team, has the permission to play on a public school sports team. Any sport, any grade level. Tim Tebow was homeschooled. Look at where he is now.
